Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Paralegal to assist attorneys in preparing and managing estate planning, trust administration, probate, and elder law matters. The ideal candidate will be organized, client-focused, and committed to delivering excellent legal service.
Key Responsibilities

Draft and prepare legal documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, deeds, probate pleadings, and court filings

Manage client files, calendars, and deadlines with accuracy and confidentiality

Support attorneys in probate and trust administration, including asset inventories, distributions, and court petitions

Conduct legal and factual research related to estate and elder law matters

Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and third parties

Assist with Medicaid (MaineCare) applications and documentation

Maintain internal systems, ensuring all records are up to date and properly organized

Participate in document signings and provide notary services, if certified
Qualifications

2+ years of experience as a paralegal in estate planning, probate, or elder law preferred

Strong knowledge of Maine probate procedures and court systems

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar)

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong written and verbal communication abilities

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Paralegal certification or equivalent experience required

Notary public commission a plus (or willingness to obtain)
